What ninety minutes at Leeds Castle actually buys
Admission is in the fare, so you walk past the ticket office rather than into it. Ninety
minutes covers the castle building at an unhurried pace, the courtyard, and the nearest
stretch of garden on the way back to the coach.
What it does not cover is the far half of a 500-acre estate. The maze and its grotto, the
Bird of Prey Centre and the playgrounds are all a walk away, and the reviews that mark this
day down are almost always from people who expected to reach them. If the whole estate is
what you want, the castle's own twelve-month ticket is the honest answer — and it is
linked at the foot of this page.
The Canterbury Cathedral grade is the one decision left to make. Choose it and you get
entry plus a guided tour inside; leave it and you get a free hour in the medieval streets
instead, which several travellers prefer and which costs less.

Book it if
You have one day for Kent and want three landmarks settled in a single fare, with entry
to the castle already paid and somebody else driving. It is the most-reviewed

Choose something else if
Leeds Castle itself is the reason you are coming. Ninety minutes will not reach the maze,

Coach Station rather than on the street outside. Arrive at 8:30am. Victoria Coach Station is
about seven minutes' walk from Victoria Underground and rail station, and it is busy in the
morning — one reviewer compares the boarding crush to an airport terminal, so leaving
a margin is worth more than being on time.
The day finishes near Victoria Station rather than back at the coach station.
Know before you go
The White Cliffs stop is twenty minutes. Plan a photograph, not a walk;
the clifftop path is not part of this day.
The coach passes Dover Castle without stopping. If you want to go

Canterbury Cathedral entry is a grade, not a default. Choose it at
booking or you will be outside the building.
Food and drink are not included. Canterbury is the practical lunch
stop and it is the tightest part of the timetable.

The guide talked us through Leeds Castle and the cliffs on the coach and then let everyone go their own way. At Canterbury she walked the group into the cathedral and gave us an hour to ourselves afterwards. As a woman travelling alone I would have liked a little less assumption that I needed shepherding.

Do you stop at Dover Castle?
No. The coach passes Dover Castle on the coast road on the way to the White Cliffs and does not stop there. If Dover Castle matters to you, a private car can build the day around it instead.
Can you walk on the White Cliffs?
Not on this itinerary. The twenty-minute stop is at shore level with the cliffs in view, and several travellers have said they expected the clifftop path. Knowing that in advance is what makes the stop enjoyable.
