Leeds Castle sells two tiers, each at an online price and a higher gate price, and every one of them is valid for twelve months rather than a day. That last rule changes the arithmetic more than any discount does.
What a Leeds Castle ticket costs in 2026
The Explorer ticket is the base. It opens the castle building, the grounds, the maze and grotto, the gardens, the playgrounds and the Bird of Prey Centre, and parking comes with it.

Explorer or Ultimate Explorer — what the extra £11 buys
The Ultimate Explorer adds two things and nothing else: six trips on Elsie the Castle Train or the seasonal Black Swan Ferry, and one round of adventure golf. Both are charged for separately on an Explorer ticket.

The decision is simple enough to make in your head. If a child in your party will want the train, the ferry and a round of golf, the Ultimate pays for itself; if you have come for the castle and the gardens, it does not.
Online against the gate: the same ticket, two prices
Buying ahead saves £4.00 on an adult ticket at either tier, £3.50 on a child Explorer and £3.00 on a child Ultimate, and £13.50 on a two-adult family Explorer. Tickets cannot be bought over the phone, so it is the website or the gate.
Nothing forces you to pick a time. There is no timed entry at Leeds Castle, so an online ticket is a price decision rather than a booking-slot decision.
The twelve-month rule, and what it does to the maths
Every admission ticket is valid for multiple use for one year from the date you select. Two visits on one adult Ultimate Explorer works out at £22.75 a visit, which is less than a single Explorer ticket. Nobody at the gate reminds you of this, and two reviewers who bought through a reseller in 2022 believed it did not apply to them; the castle's own terms say it does.
It also removes the risk from a bad forecast. If the rain sets in an hour after you arrive, you have not lost the day — you have started a year.
Family, child and carer prices
Child pricing runs from three to fifteen; sixteen and over pays the adult rate. Family 1 covers one adult with up to three children and Family 2 covers two adults with up to three, and both beat the same heads bought singly. A disabled ticket includes one free carer, and the disabled rate is itself lower than the standard one — additional carers are arranged with the castle rather than bought online.
The green travel discount — 20% for arriving without a car
Show a bus or train ticket valid for the date of your visit, or arrive by bike, and the castle takes 20% off admission. On an adult Ultimate Explorer that is £9.10 back; across a family of four it is real money. When a guided day trip is the cheaper way in
Do the arithmetic rather than assuming. An adult Ultimate Explorer at £45.50, a return from London Victoria to Bearsted, and a taxi at each end will land within a few pounds of a From $130 coach fare that already includes admission, a guide, Canterbury Cathedral and the White Cliffs of Dover. What the coach costs you is time: ninety minutes at the castle rather than as long as you want.
So the honest split is this.
