Leeds Castle Events 2026
Leeds Castle runs two kinds of event: the ones your admission ticket already covers, and the ones sold on their own. Two dates in November also close the castle building to daytime visitors, which is the single thing worth checking before you book anything.
Two November dates close the castle building. The Fireworks Spectacular on 7 and 8 November 2026 shuts the interior to daytime visitors, and the grounds stay open around it. Because every admission ticket is valid for twelve months, a closed date is rescheduled rather than lost — the terms are on Leeds Castle ticket prices, and the guided days that include entry are on the day trips from London.
What is on now, and what your ticket already covers
Most of the year's programme is inside the admission price. The exhibitions and trails run for weeks or months rather than single days, so they are less something to plan a date around and more something to know is there.
Sculpture Trail
29 August – 4 October 2026
Sculpture set out across the gardens and the parkland, walked as part of a normal visit. It uses the estate rather than a gallery, so the trail is the reason to give the grounds an extra hour.
Pilgrimage of Love: Eleanor of Castile
9 March – 1 November 2026
The castle's exhibition on Eleanor of Castile, the queen who built the Gloriette in the 1280s, told through an AI avatar of Eleanor herself. It sits inside the castle building, so it closes when the building does.
Halloween at Leeds Castle
17 October – 1 November 2026
Family activities and themed entertainment across the half-term week. Autumn opening applies, which means last entry at 3pm rather than 4pm.
Wallace & Gromit — A Cracking Christmas Caper
21 November 2026 – 3 January 2027
The winter family programme, running alongside the Christmas lights. Winter hours are the shortest of the year, so an early start matters more than usual.
Ticketed separately: fireworks and the Christmas season
These are sold on their own and are not covered by daytime admission. The Christmas season is the busiest run of the year at Leeds Castle and the one where booking ahead is genuinely necessary.

10 – 11 October 2026
A wedding planning event in the castle and the Stable Courtyard.
Leeds Castle Fireworks Spectacular
7 – 8 November 2026
The biggest night of the castle's year, with fireworks over the water. The castle building is closed to daytime visitors on both days.
Fireworks Spectacular House Party
7 November 2026
A premium ticket for the fireworks, hosted inside the castle.
Christmas Lights at Leeds Castle
20 November 2026 – 3 January 2027
An illuminated trail through the grounds after dark, ticketed separately from daytime admission.
Christmas Afternoon Tea
21 November 2026 – 3 January 2027
Afternoon tea through the Christmas season, booked as its own experience.
Christmas Masquerade Ball in the Castle
4 and 19 December 2026
Two evening balls held inside the castle building.
Slay Bells: A Christmas Murder Mystery Dinner
5 December 2026
One night of interactive dining in December.
The dates the castle building closes
Three closures matter in 2026. The castle and the grounds shut on Christmas Day. The castle building alone closes for the Fireworks Spectacular on 7 and 8 November and for the July concert, with the grounds open in both cases. Winter opening from 20 November also brings last entry forward to 3pm, so a December afternoon arrival is a grounds visit rather than a house visit.
